Legislative Action:

 •  Work to achieve marriage equality at the state and federal level.

 •  Support our national partners to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Take Action Now >>

 •  Continue to work on making Hawaii more embracing of those with variant gender identities and gender expressions. This includes removing gender markers on legal documents at the state and county level.

 •  Pass legislation to guarantee safe schools with enumerated categories that include sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. Hawaii's youth deserve enforced protections from bullying and harassment and we need to equip education personnel with tools and training to proactively address bullying.

 •  Advocate for a bill that addresses administrative issues within the current civil unions laws.

 •  Work to remove marriage requirements for insurance carriers to cover fertility treatment. Hawaii currently requires people to be married in order for the procedures to be covered by insurance. This is discriminatory.

 •  Support our national partners to pass the federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) that includes sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes. Take Action Now >>

 •  Monitor local and national judicial and other executive or committee appointments to ensure nominees respect LGBT people.

 •  Continue to work with the Hawaii Department of Health to streamline the civil union administrative process.

 •  Support efforts to allow condom access in our state's high schools.

 •  Continue to support Hawaii's mandate that sex education curriculum within our schools be medically accurate and are not abstinence-based.

 •  Continue to retain a professional lobbyist to maintain a constant presence at the Capitol.

 •  Support our national partners to pass the Uniting American Families Act (UAFA) to allow Americans in binational relationships to sponsor their same-sex partner for U.S. citizenship. Take Action Now >>
